(Washington, D.C.) - The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) and Friends of Kim Brenegar, a not-for-profit community group leading the renovation and development of Kim's Garden, are pleased to announce an August installation of a circular mosaic for the garden courtyard. The design is by Deirdre Saunder (Hopscotch Bridge, Glenmont Metro Station and Silver Plaza Fountain) and is commissioned by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, as part of its Public Art Building Communities grant.
The mosaic installation is part of Phase III of the garden restoration project and is designed to celebrate the perennial spirit of the former DC resident and landscaper, who touched so many lives on Capitol Hill. Kim's Garden is located at the intersection of 8th Street and Independence and North Carolina Avenues, SE next to Christ Our Shepherd Church.
"The DCCAH presents public art for audiences who live, work and visit the District. The artwork project for Kim's Garden exemplifies our important partnerships with communities to enhance public spaces," says Lionell Thomas, Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Kim's Garden is the restoration project of a Capitol Hill park to honor the memory of Kim Brenegar, and is a partnership between the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation and the Friends of Kim Brenegar. Care Company is the fiscal agent.
